Disposable table sheets: getting the size and the count right

Roll of MASERTIO Disposable Massage Bed Covers, white non-woven material, for professional spa and salon use.

Disposable linens are the highest-volume, lowest-glamour item in any treatment room, and the one most often ordered wrongly. The mistakes are almost always dimensional or a flat-versus-fitted mix-up, and both are avoidable in about two minutes.

Measure the table, not the last box

Massage and facial tables are not standardised. Widths run from roughly 28 to 32 inches and lengths from 72 to 85, and two tables that look the same across a room frequently are not. Measure the padded surface itself.

Reordering by matching the previous carton works until a table is replaced, at which point the mismatch is discovered a case at a time. It is worth measuring once and writing the numbers somewhere.

Flat and fitted are not interchangeable

A flat sheet is a rectangle laid over the table and tucked. A fitted sheet has elasticated corners and grips the surface. They are ordered by different dimensions and a case of the wrong one is unusable for the job you bought it for.

Our listings state which is which in the title as well as the description, because this is the single most common ordering error in the category.

The common sizes and what they suit

Flat sheets around 31 by 71 inches suit most standard massage tables. Fitted sheets run larger, typically to 36 by 85, because they have to wrap the sides as well as cover the top.

If your table sits at the larger end, a flat sheet at 31 by 71 will not tuck properly and will pull loose during a treatment, which is the practical symptom of ordering slightly small.

Non-woven weight and what it changes

Non-woven fabric is measured in grams per square metre. Lighter material is cheaper and tears more easily under a client who moves; heavier material sits better and costs more per sheet.

For deep tissue work where there is real movement, the heavier grade is worth the difference. For a facial where the client is still, the lighter grade is entirely adequate.

Single use means single use

Non-woven disposable sheets are not designed to be laundered and do not survive it. They are described as disposable on every listing and there is no version of them that is reusable.

The reusable item in this range is the waterproof PU table cover, which wipes down between clients. It is a different product doing a different job and the two are sometimes confused.

Working out how many cases to order

Multiply treatments per day by days open per week, then by the number of weeks you want to hold. A room doing eight treatments a day, five days a week, uses roughly 160 sheets a month, which is one to two cases depending on count.

Cases here come in 30, 50, 60 and 100. Ordering to a months usage plus a margin is the usual pattern and it keeps you clear of the free-shipping threshold question as well.

Colour, and why it is not only cosmetic

White reads as clinical and shows everything, which is either an advantage or a nuisance depending on your room. Darker colours hide oil marks between the sheet going on and coming off.

Where oils are used heavily, black or purple sheets look considerably better through a treatment. That is a genuine functional difference rather than a styling one.

Storage matters more than people expect

Non-woven fabric picks up moisture from a damp room and creases permanently under weight. Store cases flat, off the floor, somewhere dry, and open one case at a time.

A case stored upright with weight on it produces sheets with a fold line down the middle, which is visible on the table and cannot be pressed out.

Face cradle covers are a separate line item

They are consumed at the same rate as table sheets and are routinely forgotten in an order, which is how a room runs out of one and not the other. Order them together and in matching quantities.

They come in much larger counts because they are smaller and cheaper, so one order typically lasts considerably longer.

What to check when a case arrives

Open it and count against the listed quantity, and check the printed dimensions on the packaging match what you ordered. Do this on arrival rather than when you reach the bottom of the previous case.

Sealed cases can be returned within our window if the size is wrong. An opened case cannot, which is why the check matters on the day rather than a month later.

Ordering properly

Measure the padded surface once and write it down. Decide flat or fitted deliberately. Order to about a months usage plus a margin, add face cradle covers in the same order, and check the case on arrival.
